FTP Endurance Test With CrossFit Games Athlete Elliot Simmonds

FTP Test With CrossFit Games Athlete Elliot Simmonds

25 Minutes

Coaches Tip

Hey Guys, it’s Elliot Simmonds and here is one of my go to Endurance test workouts that I do throughout the season, it’s a 20 Minute Functional Threshold Power (FTP) Test. The reason we do this throughout the season is so we can approximate where your lactate threshold is so we can compare where we are at each stage of the season. Another reason for this is that if you do a lot of cycling, you can use your FTP score to base your workouts off.

20 Minute Functional Threshold Power (FTP) Test

10:00 Minute Warm Up

Followed By

20:00 Minutes Maximum Output at consistent pace

At The End of 20 Minutes Straight into

10 Minute Cool Down

Your Score: If you have a Watt Bike/C2 Bike then take your average Watts from 20 Minutes

If you have an Assault Bike then count the Calories.

Your FTP is 95% of this number. So multiply your score by 0.95 to find out your score.
